On February 11, 2025, I successfully hosted a workshop in Japan dedicated to Structural Pruning (“構造的剪定” – Kōzōteki Sentei).
This event aimed to introduce and promote understanding of this important technique for guiding the healthy development of young trees.

Workshop Overview:
The workshop began with an indoor session lasting about thirty minutes, focusing on the basic techniques of structural pruning.
This was followed by a two-hour outdoor workshop. During this session, participants observed young trees and discussed potential pruning points as a group. After the discussion, one representative participant made the pruning cuts carefully. This was based on the agreed-upon approach. Everyone saw the practical application of the concepts in a real-world setting.

Participant Engagement:
I was very pleased with the participants’ enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the day. The positive atmosphere reflected a strong interest in learning more about proper tree care techniques.
Looking Ahead:
This workshop marks a step forward in my efforts to share knowledge about structural pruning within Japan. I plan to continue offering educational opportunities related to arboriculture in the future.
